Is it just me, or are the mentions of the new Pope's age and speculation on the length of his reign in poor taste? Andrew Sullivan (and again, I use him because he'll be seen everywhere the next few days) reprints an e-mail which states, "JPII's successor, based on the way the Church has long operated, would have to be someone who would have a short reign..." and another which states, "The guy's 78 years old. I give this papacy 3-5 years tops, given that guys like him don't exactly jog 3 miles a day and stick to a low cholesterol diet."
I think a reasonable person might conclude the sooner the Pope dies, the happier these people will be.
