Meeting unsafe for children

In about 20 minutes, residents of West Bend will be meeting to discuss the appropriateness of some of the books in the library.
The meeting will be in the school gym at Silverbrook Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

Parents are asked not to bring their children because of the nature of the discussion.

The meeting was originally scheduled earlier in the month, but the turnout was so big that it had to be rescheduled and moved to a larger location.

Yes parents are asked not to bring their children "because of the nature of the discussion" about books in the Young Adult section.

Here's a clue for librarians and library board members. If you can't discuss the books in front of children, then you shouldn't be making the books available to children.

The books in question supposedly address "teenage homosexuality." The graphic sexual nature of some of the material is what has caused the concern, leading some to even describe the material as "pornographic." I will guarantee you some idiot tonight will stand up and say some variant of, "If this was heterosexual porn you wouldn't be objecting to letting your kids see it."
