The $1.2 million dollar man

At the Americans for Prosperity - Wisconsin's Defending the American Dream summit in Milwaukee, many of the speakers were first-rate and I think you'll enjoy seeing the video as it becomes available. I know I'm looking forward to it.

However, one of the speakers may want AFP to burn the tape. Wisconsin Attorney General JB Van Hollen repeatedly told his audience how he gave $1.2 million back to the state from his office. As the "only conservative elected state-wide" he should be a bit more careful with his facts. Yes, it's true he gave the state back some money, but only after Van Hollen asked Governor Doyle and the legislature to give the attorney general's office an additional appropriation of $7.7 million. Considering that during his campaign for attorney general he said spending more money would "not be the conservative thing to do," you can understand why he might try to forget the extra $7.7 million.
