Journal Sentinel editors sober up on Jeff Wood

Sometimes it just takes a little prodding. David Haynes for the J/S editorial board noted my criticism of the newspaper's weak response to State Rep. Jeff Wood's arrest and the subsequent editorial became the first in the state to call for Wood's resignation.
Wood and any other legislators with direct experience with drunken driving can best prove they have learned their lessons by passing a law that makes the third offense a felony.

Judgment is seriously flawed any time a person gets behind the wheel drunk. It is acutely flawed if after two previous offenses, a driver does it again. The consequences should reflect that truth.

We haven't asked resignation of others in the past, but the toll of drunken driving in Wisconsin is too hard to ignore. It's time to take a stand. Wood should go.
