Is your degree worth the paper it's printed on?

Bill Willers,Professor emeritus, biology at UW-Oshkosh attacked UW-Madison Law Professor Ann Althouse for not defending 9-11 conspiracy theorist Kevin Barrett. Althouse defends herself, but I can't help but wonder what would cause a UW biology professor to become a conspiracy-theory believing wacko? And what kind of educations are his students getting?
