The Cowboys broke the game open by scoring 10 points in the final 23 seconds of the first half. After the Packers scored first on kicker Chris Jacke's 30-yard field goal, Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman completed a 25-yard touchdown to wide receiver Alvin Harper. With 23 seconds left in the first half, Cowboys kicker Eddie Murray made a 41-yard field goal. On the ensuing kickoff, Dallas' Joe Fishback recovered Green Bay returner Corey Harris' fumble, and Aikman threw a 6-yard touchdown to tight end Jay Novacek to give the Cowboys a 17-3 lead before halftime. In the third quarter, Dallas wide receiver Michael Irvin caught a 19-yard touchdown reception. Packers quarterback Brett Favre completed two touchdowns in the second half, a 13-yarder to wide receiver Robert Brooks and a 29-yarder to Sterling Sharpe, but it was not enough.
