The fiddlers three

Madison Common Council President Austin King is pushing for public financing of local elections in Madison. From the press release:
“I was thrilled to see that Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and his two challengers, Ray Allen and Peter Munoz, all endorse full public financing of local elections at a debate before the primary,” concluded King. “I hope this resolution finds similar bipartisan support on the Common Council. We owe the voters no less than clean elections.”
I'd settle for a better vocabulary for politicians. But we would also remind King that the most famous occurrence of three contenders for office behaving in a collegial (tri-partisan?) manner was Mark Antony, Octavian Caesar and Marcus Lepidus killing Brutus and Cassius at the Battle of Phillipi, ending the Roman republic.

Perhaps that's why I admire good partisans.
