Recently recalled Muskego mayor Charles Damaske is seeking new political life as an alderman from Watertown. Damaske has purchased a "large, historic home," in Watertown. He plans to open a bed and breakfast at his new home and join the local historical society. Given the nature of his troubles in Muskego, you would think he would concentrate on the here and now.
Meanwhile in Pewaukee, Alderman David Mokros has decided not to run for re-election. Mokros, you might remember, was the alderman who mysteriously found a file containing the police record of responses to the address of a political opponent. Rather than return the file to the police, Mokros made copies and distributed them to the media. The file supposedly disappeared from former mayor Jeff Nowak's wastepaper basket and nobody knows how the file got to Mokros. Nowak was eventually recalled.
Mokros compounded his political problems by writing a letter of support for former City of Pewaukee Alderman Anthony Balistreri who was convicted of sexually abusing children.
According to the Waukesha Freeman, Mokros denies that those two incidents had anything to do with his decision to not seek re-election. They should have.
