The pictures of the two missing boys, Quadrevion Henning, 12 and Purvis Virginia Parker, 11, have been posted on the Web site of the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children, she said.
National media outlets, such as CNN and Fox News, have called the department about the case, she said.
The search has centered in the area stretching from N. 51st Blvd to N. 55th St. and from W. Villard St. to Lincoln Creek Parkway. It is now expanding four blocks in all directions, Schwartz said. The Havenswood area will also be searched again. Classmates of both boys will also be questioned, she said.
Schwartz said this case differs from other cases of missing children in that the department is not getting any calls that they have been spotted anywhere. "Usually we get calls within the first 24 hours, but no one seems to have seen them," she said.
Some 13 registered sex offenders live in the search area and she said nearly all of their residences have been searched with their consent.
The two boys were last seen in the 4900 block of N. 53rd St near their homes at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said they have no evidence of foul play and that the boys have no history of running away.
Anyone with any information is asked to call the police at 935-7410.
