Both houses of the state legislature remain adjourned until February 21st. However, when they come back who knows what mischief they might get up to?
One possible item that needs the pressure from the public is the proposed ethanol mandate. The issue sits with the state senate at the moment, and as you can see from the chart at right, we need more state senators to step forward and oppose it.
We have good news from Charlie Sykes: three state assembly members have withdrawn their support for the ethanol mandate as a result of the state senate Republican deal with the Sierra Club to push the cost of increased air pollution from ethanol onto other industries. The three members of the state assembly taking the pledge are: Mark Gottlieb (R-Port Washington), Samantha Kerkman (R-Powers Lake), and Robin Vos (R-Caledonia). It passed the assembly in December 54-38, so we still have a ways to go. The odds are better of it failing in the senate.
