Pewaukee recall election tuesday

The City of Pewaukee decides tuesday if they should recall Mayor Jeff "Little Nixon" Nowak.

Nowak, you might remember, gave fuel to the recall fire when it was discovered he asked the police for a list of police "contacts" for one of his critics, Barbara Whitcomb, president of the recall group Pewaukeeans for Better Government. Nowak ally Ald. David Mokros then gave that list to the news media in an effort to smear Whitcomb. When it backfired and the list was traced back to Nowak, Nowak claimed he improperly disposed of the file by tossing it in his wastebasket, and he has no idea how the file magically appeared in Mokros' mailbox.

Now the latest controversy may involve a little resume padding by Nowak. (Ht: Dean at Musings of a Thoughtful Conservative)

Nowak has two opponents in the recall election.

Chris Durski is a former school board member, a founder of Pewaukeeans for Better Government (she resigned to run for mayor), and has sought the office of mayor before as a write-in candidate in April 2004 against Nowak.

Scott Klein is a current Waukesha County supervisor and a former Town Board member. Klein did not vote against the proposed county budget. Scott Klein does have a campaign website.

If, after tuesday's election nobody gathers a majority of the vote (likely), there will be a run-off December 13th between the top two vote-getters. City Clerk Kelly DeMotto estimates a turnout of 45 percent for tuesday's election, a number that does not bode well for Nowak.
