Another Dune?

Variety is reporting Peter Berg will be directing another version of Frank Herbert's Dune. Wasn't the Sci Fi channel version definitive? Granted, it softened the dialogue a bit and had a few flaws, but it did manage to capture the story pretty well. Would a movie version be another awful David Lynch version?

This isn't encouraging:
The project is out to writers, with the producers looking for a faithful adaptation of the Hugo- and Nebula Award-winning book. The filmmakers consider its theme of finite ecological resources particularly timely.
Claiming Dune is about "finite ecological resources" is like saying Lawrence of Arabia was about oil. It misses the point - badly.
