Veteran's Day

In the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, "the war to end all wars" came to an end. Brave men on both sides fought and died in unprecedented numbers. Eastern Europe fragmented and faced the grim spectres of Bolshevism and a resentful Germany. National aspirations across the globe went unrequited and the promise of a new age gave way quickly to a realization that the old world is always with us.

Despite the desire of mankind for peace, there will always be war among men. So long as there is war, America will need brave men and women to serve, to protect our freedoms and our way of life. America has been fortunate in our history. We have always been blessed that so many have answered the call. Today we remember and honor our veterans even as we pray for the day we will no longer need their services.

God Bless each and every one of you, and thank you.
